Privacy Policy
JARANG processes only the information needed to provide the service and aims to explain clearly what information is used and why.
1. Information We Process and Why
Social login information
Account information required for authentication is processed when you log in through Google or Kakao OAuth. Both login methods require an email address during sign-up. The email address is stored only in Supabase Auth and is not copied to the JARANG service database. The service database stores an identifier used to link the account, the nickname selected by the user, and the URL of a profile photo provided by the login provider or set directly by the user. If no profile photo is provided, the service displays the initial of the user's nickname instead.
Service activity information
JARANG processes post text, categories, uploaded images, posting times, like and dislike reactions, and related aggregate counts to provide the service, display the feed, and operate the community.
Automatically generated information
JARANG uses essential session cookies to keep users logged in. Whether a user has acknowledged the cookie notice is stored in the browser's local storage. During access to the service, IP addresses, browser and device information, and access logs may be generated in the security logs of hosting and infrastructure providers.
2. How We Collect Information
Information is collected when users log in through Google or Kakao, set a nickname or profile photo, create content, react to posts, or access the service. JARANG does not directly collect or store passwords for social accounts.
3. Retention and Deletion
- As a general rule, account and service activity information is retained while the account remains in use.
- The profile photo URL is made public together with the nickname and is removed from the service profile when the photo is deleted or the account is closed.
- A post soft-deleted after accumulating 100 dislikes is no longer public, but may remain in internal records to the extent necessary for service operations and dispute handling.
- When an account or data deletion request is received, JARANG verifies the requester's identity and processes the request to the extent that retention is not required by law or otherwise legitimately necessary.
- Information subject to a retention period required by law is securely deleted after that period ends.
4. External Service Providers
JARANG uses Supabase for authentication, databases, and image storage. Images are stored in Supabase Storage. The privacy practices of the relevant login provider also apply during Google or Kakao OAuth authentication. External service providers process information in accordance with their own security and privacy standards.
5. Essential Cookies and Local Storage
JARANG currently uses only essential cookies required to maintain login sessions and security. It does not use optional cookies for advertising, marketing, or behavioral tracking. Users may block cookies through their browser settings, but blocking essential cookies may prevent login features from working properly.
6. User Rights
Users may request access to, correction or deletion of, or restriction of processing of their information through the contact email address. After confirming the requester's identity, JARANG will provide the result of the request in accordance with applicable law.
7. Users Under the Age of 14
Because JARANG does not provide a separate process for verifying consent from a legal guardian, it restricts registration and use of the service by children under the age of 14. If JARANG learns that information relating to a child under 14 has been processed, it will verify the circumstances and take the necessary action.
8. Security Measures and Changes to This Policy
JARANG applies reasonable safeguards, including access control and verification of authenticated requests. If this Policy changes, JARANG will publish the effective date and a summary of the material changes in the service.
